About Matt

I have a naturally dynamic range of vocal abilities. My "everyday voice" covers the 20-35 year old range, where I sound like that helpful older brother...or bossy older brother if need be. There is a friendly and warm attitude in my voice that puts the listener at ease. This works well for anything geared towards children, teens, or young adults, in such platforms as commercials, audio books, video games, documentaries and website tutorials.
From my time doing sports radio, my voice naturally becomes deeper and more authoritative, putting me in the middle-age range. This is ideal for corporate narration, documentaries, or commercials with a serious message.
Some people have told me that I have a deep voice, while some have told me that I have a youthful sounding voice. Whichever one it is, somewhere in between is the right voice for just about any project!
Moving into voice over has been a natural progression as I've spent more than 16 years behind the mic, performing music both in bands and as a solo artist, and also being the play-by-play voice for various sports on radio.
I have provided the voice for spots on WMUA radio in Amherst, MA. Currently, I still dabble in radio by doing promos and PSA's for my own online radio show, The Talkin' Sports with Balls Midday show, which I co-host weekly.
Recently, I have been a part of Walla groups for anime series Vampire Knight and Dokuro Chan.
I'm lucky to have been privately coached in voice over by Chuck McKibben, a well established and versatile voice artist and director in his own right, who worked with the legendary Mel Blanc in the 1970's as a recording engineer.
I have also had the privilege of taking part in V.O. workshops given by some of the best voice coaches/talent out there, including Penny Abshire, James Alburger, Tony Oliver and MJ Lallo.
I received my B.A. in Communications from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. There, I was part of the on-air staff of WMUA student radio, broadcasting sporting events as well as providing updates during the the 5 P.M. newscasts and being executive producer for sportscasts.
